Big River Mendocino Lumber Company locomotive No. 1 with a train of logs circa 1900.
Originally this locomotive was built for running on a street trailway, and the “cab” extended all the way to the smokebox. This was shortened after a rebuild, resulting in the still very large cab with streetcar-style clerestory roof seen here.
